Freshwater Fishing EquipmentBy fishingequipmentstore.net added on Wed, 01 Jul 2009Freshwater fishing, more than just an attractive hobby, it is very much challenging. A combination of skill, patience and experience plus the right equipment are required to determine a successful catch. A good set of fishing tackles, rods, lures and reels amongst many others coupled with getting used to fixing, casting and reeling the bait in can make fishing a thoroughly enjoyable pastime. There is a huge selection of fishing lines available with different lengths and strengths, and when you’re on the track of picking the right one, you should base your choice on the varying fishing conditions of your will-be fishing activity. You can basically choose between braid or mono lines, but the quality of lines must be selected through class line record tests. If you aren’t too technical, experimentation is the key and once you find that specific line that seems to work best for you, use it. Baits can either be soft or hard. Soft baits come in the form of worms and reptiles such as lizards and frogs. Hard baits include crankbaits, poppers, etc. Crankbaits, commonly referred to as plugs and stickbaits, are non-organic lures made of plastic that have treble hooks, and they appear to swim and wobble when thrown into the water because of their plastic lip that causes water resistance. There are also the kinds that float like ducks and those that are suspended a foot or two deep in the water. Spinner-baits on the other hand have a couple of metallic blades that spin like a propeller and mimic the behavior of small fish. Sometimes, other fishers choose to add dyes or certain smells to the bait in order to attract more fish. A fish hook is the primary tool in fishing that catches the fish by piercing its sharp end through the mouth of the fish and keeping it intact through its curvature shape when the fish falls for the bait. Once this happens, the rod is given a tug and then the line is reeled in. Fish fall for artificial lures especially for swimbaits because their movement appear like that of real living creatures. In order to catch fish that are deeper in the ocean, sinkers are used—weighted objects that function much like an anchor that allows the line to sink deeper into the water and cover more distance. A.C. plugs are sometimes considered the best in hard baits style. They come in different colors, sizes and design and they create an illusion in the water typical of fish-like artificial baits. Especially in freshwater fishing, they attract the bigger fish and become valuable assets in catching trophy fish. When this is used, only heavy and sturdy gear and equipment should be used to be able to haul in huge fish.
