Saltwater fishing becomes easier through the help of modern equipment like larger nets that catch a large number of fish every day. Stronger rods and lines, nets, weights, trawls, lift nets, gillnets, etc. are the fishing gears used to catch bigger fish in wider seas or oceans. They also include cold storage equipment on board.

Lift nets are gears used by lowering nets to a distance; then after a while of submerging it into the water, fish get trapped in it when raised to the surface. This varies in sizes from small ones manually used by fishermen to large ones mechanically operated and used in commercial fishing. Gillnets is another widely used method in commercial fishing where a large net is cast into the water. Target species could determine the size of the mesh to be chosen in this way. It could either be used from the shore into shallow waters or from a boat for deeper ones.

On the other hand, people who fish for fun or sport are called recreational anglers. For this saltwater fishing type, equipment includes rods, lines, reels, hook, sinkers, floats, baits and lures. Rod holders are used in catching a heavy fish. It prevents the rod from slipping off your grip. To haul huge fish into the boat, gaffes are being used; these are barbed spears or hooks with handles.
Many countries, especially ones which are endowed with natural marine resources delve so much into the fishing industry, primarily for livelihood, and others for recreational purposes. Saltwater fishing is indeed a popular activity around the world. Whatever purpose there may be, the need for the right equipment and skill are imperative for this venture to succeed. Choosing this equipment should cater for the size and quantity of the kind of fish you want to catch.
